A bushfire ADVICE remains in place for the Derby Highway between the Gibb River Road and the Great Northern Highway in the Shire of Derby West Kimberley.
There are multiple fires burning in the area.
A complex of fires is burning south of the Gibb River Road, approximately seven kilometres east of the Derby Highway intersection, and another is burning east of the Derby Highway approximately 200 kilometres south of the Gibb River Road intersection.
There is no threat to lives or homes but there is a lot of smoke in the area. Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes.
WHAT TO DO:
• Stay alert and monitor your surroundings.
• Watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames.
• Close all doors and windows, and turn off evaporative air conditioners but keep water running through the system if possible.
• Read through your bushfire survival plan.
• If you do not have a plan decide what you will do if the situation gets worse.
IF DRIVING:
• Be extremely careful when travelling through the area.
• Turn your headlights on and drive slowly.
• Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions.
• If you cannot see clearly, pull over, keep your headlights and hazard lights on, and wait until the smoke clears.
• If you have a respiratory condition and you have been affected by smoke you should contact your local doctor or call Health Direct on 1800 022 222.
ROAD CLOSURES:
No roads are closed.
Motorists should avoid the area and be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel working on site.
BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR:
The bushfires are contained and not controlled.
WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING:
DFES staff are flying over the fires this morning to monitor the area.
The fires were first reported on Monday 29 July.
It is estimated that the fires have burnt through approximately 5000 hectares each.
CAUSE:
The cause of the fires is unknown.
AGENCY RESPONSIBLE:
DFES is managing the fire.

DeleteBeh siamo stati fermi tre giorni, provvidenziali vista la malattia della moglie. Ora siamo a 3898 km e mancandone soltanto 1500 + o - il divario che ci separa dal rientro inizia purtroppp a restringersi :(
